Fantasy Football Week 14 Start ‘Em Sit ‘Em: Wide Receivers

Calvin Johnson, Donnie Avery, Dez Bryant, and Demaryius Thomas led the way for the wide receivers last week racking up 20+ point each en route to allowing for their backers to win their season-long weeks or weekly players GPPs. That was then and this is now; who you got going in your line-ups for Week 14?

If you’re one of the many that won’t be partaking in your league’s playoffs this week, quit feeling sorry for yourself and get off the sideline! There just so happens to be this new craze called daily fantasy, and unless you’ve been living under a rock the L/13 weeks, you already know that! If you’re unaware of this new phenomenon, the folks at StarStreet are more than happy to help you attain your Week 14 fantasy football fix with their Double-Ups, Pick-5 Contests, and $500 Freeroll.

Here’s a look at some of my most and least favorite pass catchers heading into one of the most crucial weeks of the fantasy football season.

**Start ‘Em**

Reggie Wayne WR Indianapolis Colts ($12,550) The 5th best fantasy WR was quiet last week in Motown reeling in just four receptions for 51 yards without a score, but I got a feeling the former Hurricane puts an end to his TD-less streak in a big way on Sunday versus a Titans defense that’s surrendered 24 scores through the air and allowed an average of 19.7 FPPG to opposing WRs through six road games.

Greg Jennings WR Green Bay Packers ($10,400) While I wouldn’t tell you not to draft Randall Cobb instead of Jennings, he does cost a couple shekels more and you might be shelling out extra for the same type of production. In this day and age, it’s best to save as opposed to overspend. While his four-catch day for 48 yards in his return last week was about as exciting as his Old Spice campaign, he was targeted a team high eight times. With the Lions giving up 20+ points to WRs four of the L/5 weeks, I like Jennings to do his fantasy backers a solid with a huge performance on SNF.

**Sit ‘Em**

Dwayne Bowe WR Kansas City Chiefs ($10,500) It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that Bowe is not worth his salary being asked this week; especially since I think the Chiefs emotional bubble will burst after banding together to put forth one of their best efforts of the year vs. the Panthers. Bowe was still held out of the end zone in that game, and hasn’t hit paydirt since way back in Week 4. With him getting a heavy dose of shutdown corner Joe Haden, expectations must be tempered even more.

Larry Fitzgerald WR Arizona Cardinals ($9,950) What a waste of a season and a talent it’s been for “Fitzy” owners in 2012. One of the best WRs in the league has been relegated to the bench entirely due to the fact that Arizona can’t field a capable QB that can get him the pigskin. I don’t care if Browner’s out this game. Sherman’s still a beast and I’m not sold whatsoever in Skelton. He lost his gig to Lindley for crying out loud! Don’t reach and expect Larry to pull out an overdue performance; it’s not happening in front of the 12th Man!

**Week 14 Value Starts**

Brandon Lloyd WR New England Patriots ($8,100) You can go ahead and pay top dollar for Wes Welker and Aaron Hernandez on Monday, but with Julian Edelman recently going on IR and “Gronk” still out of commission, why don’t you give your salary cap some relief by going on the cheap and drafting Lloyd at a reduced rate? Sure, he’s been a bust all season long, but he’ll be running up against an injury ravaged Texans defense and will get more looks due to moving up on the depth chart. At this price, it’s worth the roll of the dice.

Riley Cooper WR Philadelphia Eagles ($5,900) I think you can go on the cheap and draft either him, Damaris Johnson, or Jason Avant to your squad with Foles looking to pick apart the weak link of the Buccaneers defense. Tampa Bay has been the most charitable defense for WRs all season long (27.1 FPPG), and with Bryce Brown getting bottled up by the Bucs top ranked rush “D”, Foles will have no choice but to look to the air so as to not allow TBY to hone in on Brown.
