NFL Week 12 Fantasy Football Roster: StarStreet

For Week 12 of the NFL season our weekly salary cap league takes us to StarStreet for the second time this season. This site uses a $100,000 salary cap and the roster consists of 2 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE and 2 FLEX. We always fill the FLEX positions with running backs, so that would mean four running backs for us. This site gives four points for touchdown passes and one full point per reception, a combination that makes quarterbacks the least valuable.

Therefore, we do not splurge for elite quarterbacks, preferring value and upside instead. That is especially true with Colin Kaepernick being named the 49ers’ starter against the Saints this week and available for less than $10,000. Here’s the line-up I’m rolling with for Week 12.

QB – Carson Palmer, OAK ($11,700): Carson is a perfect example of a better fantasy quarterback than “real life” quarterback, and he should throw a ton of passes vs. the Bengals. Palmer has averaged 345.3 passing yards the last three games.

QB – Colin Kaepernick, SF ($9,800): The Saints defense has looked better the last two weeks, but Kaepernick played well in his first start against a great Chicago defense, completing 16-of-23 passes for 243 yards and two touchdowns and this assignment is certainly easier come Sunday.

RB – Adrian Peterson, MIN ($12,400): Peterson is the leading rusher in the NFL, and although we would normally be leery of the Chicago run defense, it has looked much more vulnerable in recent weeks and AP is defense-proof anyway.

RB – Marshawn Lynch, SEA ($11,800): Much like the Bears, the Dolphins have gone from leading the NFL in rushing defense early in the year to allowing 131.3 rushing yards per game the last three weeks, so “The Beast” should run wild.

WR – A.J. Green, CIN ($14,300): Green is the highest priced wide receiver this week, but we could afford him so why not pick up arguably the best wide receiver in football this season vs. a porous Oakland secondary allowing 269.0 passing yards per game the last three weeks.

WR – Reggie Wayne, IND ($11,750): Wayne offers great value at this price tag, as this is a 1000-yard receiver already through 10 games that has had at least five receptions in every single game this season. We don’t see the Bills slowing him down.

TE – Kyle Rudolph, MIN ($6,700): We like to go cheap on tight ends, and the Vikings rediscovered Rudolph in a 34-24 win over the Lions before a bye week. Rudolph had a great start to the season, then was almost forgotten for a while, and then caught seven passes for 64 yards vs. Detroit including his sixth touchdown of 2012.

FLEX – Chris Johnson, TEN ($11,600): Remember the Chris Johnson that averaged around 2.0 yards per carry from the beginning of last year though the early weeks of this year? We don’t either. Jacksonville is allowing 171.0 rushing yards per game at home!

FLEX – Darren Sproles, NO ($10,900): Sproles was a late scratch last week despite going through full practices all week. Don’t worry the Saints were just saving him for the 49ers! His pass catching skills figure to be put to use often vs. the San Francisco pass rush.

Total Salary: $99,950
